First up we have an official Atari Jacket. I’ve never heard of Murphy’s Mart, and I’m not sure if it was exclusive to this retail chain or not.

Next we have a $2 off coupon for select Atari games from Kay-Bee toys. Featured are Pole Position, Mario Bros., Enduro, and Pitfall!. The coupon implies that it isn’t just for these games, but it does limit you to six titles only.

Next is a coupon from Big B. This one features $5 off all Atari titles.

And finally we have an exciting full page Atari ad for Kay-Bee toys. This ad shows off the Atari 2600 Jr., the 7800, a bunch of games, and accessories. $27 off of the wireless controllers!

Look at this cool Atari Is On Sale ad for J.C Penny as published in the Eugene Register-Guardian on Jun 9, 1982! Make your TV a whole new ball game. Or shoot out. Or space war. I love this ad for a variety of reasons, but mostly because all of the screen shots are hand drawn! The Pac-Man cartridge is $29.99 but you get a free Pac-Man T-Shirt!

Ultimate Arcade Advertisement

An advertisement for Ultimate Arcade(2). Looks nifty huh? There’s a bunch of games on that list. But uh… do you see the mistake? It has something to do with Burgertime. Mmm Burgertime. Someone ought to be ashamed of themselves for letting a mistake this big slip through. Wait Wait Wait! There is another mistake too! What’s up with Street Fighter 2? Side two says Press Start. Chun Li and Ryu are fighting on Blanka’s stage. This can only happen in a two player game. What’s going on here?!?

From the bowels of the internet comes the ad you see above for Nintendo, it’s games, and even the Nintendo Advantage joystick. This ad was pulished for Fred Meyer, in the Register-Guard in Eugene Oregon on December 20th, 1987. Mint Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! for $29.97? If only we knew then what we knew now!

Nintendo Advertisement Sudden Death

When thumbing through an old copy of Gamepro Magazine, I stumbled on this advertisement for Goal! on Nintendo. I don’t know anything about the sport of soccer, but this advertisement teaches me alot. First of all it teaches me that a kick to the crotch is an acceptable move. I’m being sarcastic of course, but if this was true then soccer just got interesting…

Now does page two of the ad imply that the kick to the crotch has resulted in the fatality of the Goalie? Sudden Death should be the name of this game.. Not Goal! Nintendo ads are the best.. and this one just gave me an idea for a new label… details later.
