The long mystery has finally come to an end. It was a journey that lasted 22 years but I finally got to experience Rampage for Atari 2600. I posted a long winded story not too long ago about how my dreams were dashed to not have obtain a copy in my youth – the 7th grade to be more precise. Did the game disappoint? Absolutely not! Rampage for the 2600 pushes the system to the limit. It’s not the husk of the arcade game as one might suspect. Although the game doesn’t have beautiful graphics it has all of the game play elements except jumping. Tanks, cop cars, helicopters, consumable toilets – its all there! Even the Eat at Joes’s electric sign! You can pick any of the three monsters and the game shows news reals between cities just like the arcade game. Rampage for the 2600 was completely worth the wait.

Ikari Warriors – Greatest Two Player Game Ever

Please take notice of the ad for Ikari Warriors – the arcade game. Notice that it says Greatest Two Player Game Ever! But guess what? SNK Playmore finally ported the game to the PSN but it’s crap. You know why? Its one player only. But I suppose I shouldn’t feel too bad right? They screwed up the XBOX version as well: http://digitalchumps.com/video-game-reviews/35-ps3/7908-ikari-warriors-ps-mini.html

Pole Position Atari 2600 30 Days Of Reviews Day 12

Pole Position on Atari is a reasonable port.  It has all of the elements of the arcade game but the controls are a little lacking.  Also the graphics of the enemy racers are blocky.  Enduro by Activision did just fine.

Bubble Bobble Old And New For Game Boy Advance

Bubble Bobble Old And New for Game Boy Advance is a fantastic game.  Even if you’ve never played a Bubble Bobble game before you’re going to enjoy this.

Basically both games are the same: using your dinosaur spit bobblea at the enemies.  When they get trapped pop the bubble and earn points plus items.  The items really don’t do anything but give you more points.  If you set up a combo by popping several enemiea at once the items become more fancy and woth more points.  Most items are fruits but combos release gems.

The old mode is basically the original arcade game. Pressing the L button will resize it to fit the Advance screen otherwise it will scroll hiding potential enemies.  The new mode has enhanced graphics, music and sound and has a mode where it tracks the items you’ve received.

This game has everything and can be very hypnotic.
